Meet the Iron Maidens: The Girls Who Inspired Our Mission

Published October 12, 2025 | By Valary, Founder

Behind every mission is a face. A story. A reason why we do what we do.

For The Iron Foundation, that reason is 11 incredible girls who make up the Iron Maidens Fastpitch team—ages 6 to 11, full of talent, heart, and determination. These girls are why we fight. They're why we refuse to let financial barriers keep kids off the field.

Today, I want you to meet them—not by name (we protect their privacy), but by their stories. Because their stories are the heartbeat of everything we're building.

The Team That Started It All

Iron Maidens Fastpitch isn't just a softball team. It's a family. A community. A place where girls learn that they're capable of more than they ever imagined.

Out of our 11 players:

  • 4 are fully sponsored by The Iron Foundation
  • 2 are on partial scholarships
  • 2 are my daughters (who inspired this whole journey)
  • The rest are families who stretch every dollar to make it work

Every single one of them deserves to be here. And thanks to our donors and supporters, they are.

"The Girl Who Almost Quit"

She's 9 years old. Plays catcher. Has one of the strongest arms on the team.

Her mom called us in tears last season, saying they had to pull her from the team. The fees, the equipment, the travel—it was too much. They couldn't keep up.

That phone call changed everything for us. We told her mom: "She's not going anywhere. We've got her."

Today, she's thriving. She's confident. She's a leader. And she has no idea how close she came to losing it all.

"The Quiet One Who Found Her Voice"

She's 7 years old. Shy. Didn't talk much when she first joined the team.

Her family was struggling to afford the season fees, but they didn't want to ask for help. When we found out, we stepped in immediately with a scholarship.

Now? She's one of the loudest cheerleaders in the dugout. She high-fives every teammate. She celebrates every win like it's the World Series.

Sports gave her confidence. Community gave her a voice.

"The One Who Inspires Everyone"

She's 10 years old. Plays outfield. Never misses a practice.

Her family works multiple jobs to make ends meet. They couldn't afford equipment, so our coach donated her glove, cleats, and bat.

She shows up early. Stays late. Encourages every teammate. And when she smiles, the whole team lights up.

She reminds us why we do this work.

"The Future Star"

She's 11 years old. Pitcher. Dreams of playing college softball one day.

Her family couldn't afford private pitching lessons, so we connected her with a volunteer coach who trains her for free.

She's already one of the best pitchers in her age group. And she's just getting started.

Talent doesn't wait for money. We make sure it doesn't have to.

Why These Girls Matter

These girls aren't just statistics. They're not just "kids we help." They're the reason The Iron Foundation exists.

Every time we see them step onto the field, we're reminded:

  • This is what breaking barriers looks like
  • This is what opportunity creates
  • This is what happens when a community says "we've got you"

And we're just getting started.

The Girls We Haven't Met Yet

For every girl on our team, there are dozens more sitting on the sidelines. Watching. Wishing. Wondering if they'll ever get their chance.

That's why we're expanding. That's why we're building. That's why we need your help.

Because every child deserves a team. Every child deserves a chance. Every child deserves to play.
